I have no desire to discuss his post, the only comment I make to John Humphreys is, has he any intention of reducing tax paid by Australian citizens, apart from reducing tax demands on one hand and increasing them on the other?
Australia has the highest tax rate of any democracy in the world. A.T.O. give people a break. Maybe if tax rates are reduced and not increased people , having more to spend on simple pleasures, will actually find more ways to enjoy life, thereby helping the economy. Maybe the people living in their car will be able to afford rent. (For some this is not an option. Living in their car is rent free and government can clean up their mess.)

The one year tax offset by liberals is typical government "generosity". Give with one hand but take away with the other.
