SPEAKER 2
Welcome to episode 13 of the Liberty Itch podcast. Our guest today is UK-based novelist Danny King. Tom, my fellow Liberty Itch-er, that could be misconstrued, my colleague Tom was keen to interview Danny principally about his latest book, Cancelled. Cancelled is a satirical novel about a woke utopia called New Britannia.

The protagonist, Sienna, is a star in the field of identifying people with problematic views and and cancelling them from mainstream society. To reiterate, yes, this is a fictional satirical story and not a reference guide to Starmer's Britain nor Elbow's vision for Australia. It is sort of like the Hunger Games,

except written from the initially cheerful perspective of one of the privileged capital citizens where everyone is insanely woke, which still sounds like Starmer's Britain and Elbow's Australia, doesn't it? Anyway, the particularly interesting aspect of Danny's book, Cancelled, is that it was, well, cancelled. Yes,

The latest book of multi-award winning writer Danny King, is ‘Cancelled’. It is a satirical novel set in a future world in which saying or thinking the wrong thing gets you cancelled from mainstream society.

Ironically, here in the present, the publishers tried to cancel ‘Cancelled’. So, Liberty Itch writer, Tom Valcanis, decided to ask Danny about ‘Cancelled’, being cancelled, and writing in our brave new world where being cancelled is all too real.

Fortunately, Danny was able to self-publish ‘Cancelled’, and it is now shortlisted for the Prometheus Awards Best Novel of 2025.

‘Cancelled’ is available on Amazon in physical or digital form here…
